By the end of Grade: 12.
Content Statement: The use of digital tools and media-rich resources enhances creativity and the construction of knowledge.
CPI #: 8.1.12.B.1
CPI: Design and pilot a digital learning game to demonstrate knowledge and skills related to one or more content areas or a real world situation.
I think I could use this standard effectively if the lesson were to look up and artist, find information on them, and make them so compelling and interesting by making a bio and even some of the students own art work with inspiration through this artist and posting it through a blog or type of game so that them and their fellow peers and better gain knowledge on that particular artist. Not only would I want my students to create art physically but I want to teach them how to scan it and save it as a PDF file. They could upload it, share it with friends, family, other schools and students. Also, I think that helping my students create their own slides for their portfolios are important. In order to send in a portfolio to colleges you need slides or either images saved onto disks. I think that teaching my students early how to do these tasks, they could better become acquainted and be able to explore more options and more exciting ways of doing it on their own.
During this Standard, students are expected to design something digital that they can demonstrate. They need to understand how to create it and why it is important. I think the activity of researching an artist on the internet, having to post their findings on either a web page or blog covers the understanding of knowledge and being able to comment and see others ideas will help them gain knowledge not only in technology but also as up and coming artists and students in the field of art. Technology is ever changing and I think this specific activity should be able to be used for years to come because of students' familiarity with web sites they use outside of school and blogs they may already be a part of.
