Integrating Technology In My Classroom

Reading about The Committee of Ten makes me laugh. Being an art major and hearing most of my life that art is not as important as other subjects in school infuriates me. Clearly I know this to be untrue because art gives students/children/people in general a sense to be creative and let their ideas run wild. I wonder now if art was considered in this Committee of Ten? I mean, it states that certain subjects need others in order to really be taught. For instance, math and science usually go together and language and history can co exist with out too much chaos. Now integrating technology into the classroom is a different story. Considering I am still relatively young, I still worry about integrating technology in my classroom to be interesting, fun, and relevant to my students. The 5 Learning Goals seem to be detrimental to my career as a teacher. I was really excited to read about them.
I agree that people today are living in a "nearly now" world. It's disturbing that texting out plays a dialing numbers and speaking on the phone with that person. People write emails using fonts instead of writing letters and notes and mailing them written in their own hand writing. Technology is pushing through person to person interaction. Technology seems to be winning too.
My technology background seems to be nonexistent. I am guilty of living in the texting generation but I still answer and dial phone calls. I still write letters and meet up with my friends in person as opposed to chat rooms and facebook groups. I plan to get a better understanding of what type of technology I could use in my classroom.
In schools, I think technology could be extremely useful. I remember being in not only my art classes learning about images, but history, about time lines and events that took place and not being able to really get a good sense on what I was learning. I am a visual learner and I think the idea of using a power point could be a bit better than using a fuzzy projector. I'd really like to learn specifically what kind of technology I could use in my class room in an art setting. I want to be relevant but not cheesy. I want to be exciting, but not over-do it. I think I am really excited to learn about how to involve technology in my classroom.
